The Santeria influences on OKAN's are most evident in this title track which uniquely blends guajira, the folk genre of Eastern Cuba, with Santeria-derived chants.

The chant that inspires the piece comes from the lesser known Arará sect of the Santeria religion (as opposed to the Lucumi) and is associated with the orisha Babalu Aye who was syncretized in Cuba with Saint Lazarus, whose story of exile and rebirth resonates with the composers as immigrants from Cuba to Canada
